In the recent years, manufacturing companies are investing in sensors and information systems to implement condition-based maintenance (CBM), thus pursuing benefits of digital transformation. Nevertheless, CBM as advanced system, significant investment should be made gather manage all needed data from different sources; besides, qualified human resources required for analytics. Given this premise, present paper aims at describing an industrial project where system high-critical fans is implemented a foundry. Indeed, goal use already available extant automation additional vibration develop state detection identify any abnormal behaviour assets. The evidence that: i) analysis remains easy cost-effective, yet well-performing way, monitor health machines with rotating components; ii) automatic regulation may mask underlying degradation complex assets; iii) gathered mainly focused on process parameters provides aid describe working assets, but have limited potentialities novelty detection. Eventually, envisions future development more integrated approach aimed combined elaboration data. under development, hence insights on-going analyses.
